about

A New Brand of Fiction started off as a "curious how much sleep I'll get once my next kid comes along" song. It ends up telling a story about lacking confidence in everyday situation and challenges brought on by that.

For an added bit of fun, I took a couple of lines from a very old song called "Swing" and used them for the bridge. Lastly, I sent a few acoustic tracks and a vocal to Chad for this and he sent me back a kick ass rocking song. It really kick started what would become "Forget the Days"!

Tow the line
Heard you say that time again
Now the line's become a noose
Now it's time
And everyone is here again
Are you going to cut me loose?

Now the things we'll learn this time around
You always say it's not
It's never the way it seems
Sleepless sighs and these red eyes
Starring back at me
It's just another last chance again

Back here we are
Relive that worst night once again
Will we ever take it off
It's wearing thin
Thought time can bear an ugly end
Is this a new brand of fiction?

Now the things we'll learn this time around
You always say it's not
It's never the way it seems
Sleepless sighs and these red eyes
Starring back at me
It's just another last chance again

Give me a swing
Give me a thing to make some time
Because I've wasted it all
Give me a theme
I will live free without a care
And I'd take her anywhere

Now the things we'll learn this time around
You always say it's not
It's never the way it seems
Sleepless sighs and these red eyes
Starring back at me
It's just another last chance again
